Mrs. Mary Frances Robinson Ward, 96, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Cleveland Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home from 9:30- 11:00 a.m.. Graveside services will be held in Drew Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 with Bro. Terry Tribble, Bro. Mike Stovall, and Dr. Johnny Bley officiating.
Mrs. Ward was born August 19, 1914 to George Henry Robinson and Ada Dugger in Guntown, MS. She graduated from Linn High School and then attended Moorehead Junior College on a basketball scholarship. She married L.B. Ward on November 4, 1939. Mrs. Ward was the oldest member of Rome Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and friends. Mrs. Ward loved to work in the garden and loved cooking for her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ada Robinson; husband, L.B. Ward; 13 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Bubba Corley.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her daughter, Frances Corley, of Englewood, Co, widow of Wade Corley; son, Jerry "Jabo" Ward (Lyle) of Drew, MS; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brian Ward, Ben herring, Rob Holladay, Dusty Ward, Brett Hyatt, and nephew, Bobbie Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Dyson, David Robinson, Bruce Robinson, Guy Legg, David Breland, and Deacons of the Rome Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rome Baptist Church.
