Mrs. Lillie Maurine King Jefcoat, 84, of Cleveland went to be with God June 22, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Yale Street Baptist Church in Cleveland with Rev. Thomas Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Bethel Cemetery in Kilmichael, MS.
Mrs. Jefcoat was born July 4, 1926 to Benjamin F. King and Carrie Johnson King in Kilmichael, MS. She married Elmer Drew Jefcoat February 27, 1943 and they had seven children together. Mrs. Jefcoat was a member of Yale Street Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a seamstress and retired after working several years at Abrahams Men's store in Cleveland. She loved gardening and often competed for yard of the month in which she won one Christmas season. She took pride in decorating her house for every holiday.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Carrie King; husband, Elmer Drew Jefcoat; and a son, Jamie Kiwanis Jefcoat.
Mrs. Jefcoat is survived by her daughters, Jimmie Lee Baldwin of Cleveland, MS, Janelle Wren of North Richland Hills, TX and Lillie Annette Burchfield of Drew, MS; sons, Larry Drew Jefcoat of Cleveland, MS, Tommie Glynn Jefcoat of Louisville, MS, and Benny Jewel Jefcoat of Monticello, AR; sister, Lola Dean of San Juan Capistrano, CA; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 9 great great-grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to Yale Street Baptist Church in Cleveland, MS or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
