Mrs. Millie Jennings Allen, 90, of Cleveland, MS, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3 2016, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Will Wilkerson officiating. Interment will be in Delta Heights Memorial Garden Cemetery. Mrs. Allen was born in Shaw, MS, on December 26, 1925, to V.W. Jennings and Rosie Allday Jennings. On February 4, 1943, she married James Herbert Allen in Cleveland, MS, and worked at Boyle School as well as Ludlow Textile Company. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a member of Merigold Quilting Bee. She loved to cook whenever she could and also enjoyed gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents, V.W. Jennings and Rosie Allday; husband, James Herbert Allen; and daughter, Rebecca Peoples; sisters, Nema Hamilton, Beatrice Parker, and Jeanette Alls; brothers, C.L. Jennings, Carlton Jennings, Purvis Jennings, and Percy Jennings; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Allen. Mrs. Allen is survived by her son, James Allen (Pat) of Cape Girardeau, MO and Bobby Allen of Cleveland, MS; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Billy Burnside, Jeffery Burnside, Hubert Parker, James Parker, Curtis Kynerd, and Rick Milan. In memory of Mrs. Allen, the family requests donations made to Merigold United Methodist Church in Merigold, MS.
