Nancy Bishop Tidmore, 83 of Drew, Mississippi, was called home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2020, at her home.
Nancy was born on February 24, 1937, in Drew, Mississippi, to Malcolm and Mildred Bishop. She graduated from Drew High School in 1954 and received a degree in education from Delta State College in 1958. She taught in the Drew, Leland, Clarksdale, and Grenada school districts before becoming a member of the first faculty of North Sunflower Academy in the fall of 1969. She continued to teach at NSA until her retirement in 2010, after 48 years of teaching. Mrs. Tidmore was the last original faculty member to leave NSA. She was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church and its choir for many years. She was also an avid Atlanta Braves, Green Bay Packers, and University of North Carolina Tar Heel basketball fan. Her dream job was to be the pitching coach for the Braves so she could remove pitchers before they blew the game. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Mildred Bishop; stepmother, Cain Bishop; and stepsister, Janet Barr Nancy married Ralph Tidmore, who survives her, on June 3, 1962 in Drew, MS. She is also survived by daughter Patti Tidmore; son, Reggie Tidmore; sixteen nieces and nephews; twenty great nieces and nephews; and "adopted" grandsons, Joseph and Adam Cummins.
The family would like to thank North Sunflower Hospice (Tabathan Fant, Hope Clark, and Clydia Townsend) for their wonderful care over the past 17 months.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Sunflower Academy, 148 Academy Road, Drew, MS 38737.
