Nancy Gray Adams April 10, 1924 - August 25, 2021
Nancy Adams of Rosedale, Mississippi died August 25 at her home in Rosedale at age 97. As per her wishes, she died in her own bed in her home beside where her husband, William Shattuck Adams, died August 23, 2005. They are now united in death. Nancy was raised in Clarksdale MS by her parents, Ura Sylvester Gray and Nancy Grey Samuel. She is survived by her four sons, William Shattuck Adams, Jr. of Cleveland MS, married to Karen, recently deceased, Dr. James Gray Adams of Cleveland MS married to Signe, Philip Craig Adams of Waxhaw MS and wife Mona and David Kirk Adams and wife Alena of Panama City Beach FL. She leaves 12 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Nancy and William lived frugal lives, humble and thankful to have endured America's Great Depression and World War II along with all the cycles of joys and sorrows to which human flesh is heir. In respect for their humility, the family respects their privacy and leaves their achievements and the beauty of their lives as a silent gift to those who knew and loved them. Their ashes will be mixed and spread over the family farm at Waxhaw at a place they requested in a private service at a future date. The Adams family gives special and sincere gratitude to the excellent care of Nancy's primary sitter, Hattie Cooper who stayed with her faithfully until her death as her caretaker and friend. Any memorial may be donated to the Grace Episcopal Church in Rosedale.
