Nancy Rachael Mata

Nancy Rachel Galabiz-Mata, 39, of Columbia, MS, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Visitation will be 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow beginning at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church at 215 Bishop Road, Cleveland, MS 38732, with Father Kent Bowlds officiating. Interment will be in Shelby Cemetery. Nancy was born in Shelby, MS, on March 25, 1977, to Manuel Galabiz, Jr. and Rosa Garcia Galabiz. She was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Broadstreet High School in Shelby. She then continued her education at Mississippi Delta Community College as well as Delta State University where she obtained a degree in Business. Nancy was very involved in her community and was a proactive leader in all aspects. She was a dedicated mother who loved pets, enjoyed traveling, and frequented Zumba classes often. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Manuel Galabiz, Sr. and Leslie Galabiz; and maternal grandparents, Vincent Garcia and Carmen Garcia. Nancy is survived by her husband, Humberto Mata of Columbia, MS; sons, Diego Mata and Angel Mata of Columbia, MS; parents, Manuel Galabiz, Jr. and Rosa Galabiz; brothers, Bobby Galabiz (Angelina) of Memphis, TN, Jose Galabiz (Ingrid) of Philadelphia, PA, and Ruben Galabiz (Bernita) of St. Louis, MO; sister, Sylvia Galabiz (Henry) of Clarksdale; parents-in-law, Aurelio Mata and Elena Angel de Mata of Mexico; brothers-in-law, Freddy Mata of Columbia, MS, and Hector Mata of Cleveland, MS; sisters-in-law, Rosa Elba Mata of Mexico, Eustolia Mata of Mexico, Veronica Mata of Columbia, MS, Maricela Mata of Mexico, Patricia Mata of California; and a host of numerous other beloved extended family members.
