Nell W. Kent, 88, of Rosedale, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at her home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held Monday, April 29, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. with the memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. at Gunnison United Methodist Church.
Nell was born on November 26, 1924, in Memphis, TN to Harvey Ralph Whiteside and Robbye Cheshier Whiteside. She graduated from Blue Mountain College and was a business and english teacher in the Gunnison and Rosedale communities for 25 years. She served in the US Navy as a Wave and was a member of the Mississippi Delta Chapter of the D.A.R.
Nell married Milton Orville Kent of Gunnison, December 5, 1950. She said she always loved being a farmer's wife. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bridge, making meals for family, giving vegetables from the garden, and her dogs.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville; two sisters, Sarah Kennedy Ledbetter and Mary Sue Whiteside; and nephews, Michael Lewis Dean and Benjamin Robin Kennedy.
She is survived by her son, Keith Kent of Rosedale; daughter, Kathy Kent of Rosedale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nell was much beloved in the Delta community and will be truly missed.
