Nell Ray

Nell Ray, 89, of Cleveland passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at
her home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8,
2019, at Ray Funeral Home. A second visitation will be from 10:00 to
11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019, the celebration of life service
will follow all at Ray Funeral Home.
Nell was born in Tennessee on March 11, 1930 to Hubert Newton Ditto
and Lou Etta Ham Ditto. She married D. Neal Ray, Jr. on June 10, 1950,
in Lyon, Mississippi. Mrs. Ray owned and operated Ra Nell's gift and
flower shop in Shelby, MS until she retired in February 1997.
Mrs. Ray was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby, MS until she
and her husband moved to Cleveland in February 2004. They had two
children, Donna and Bobby. Mrs. Ray was an active member of Immanuel
Baptist Church in Cleveland, where she was a member of Ladies Adult 1
Mrs. Ray is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Newton Ditto and
Lou Etta Ham Ditto; husband, D. Neal Ray, Jr.; daughter, Donna
Ainsworth and her husband, Ken Ainsworth; sister, Laverne Steele and
her husband Charlie; brother, James Howard Ditto; and daughter-in-law,
Survivors are her son, Bobby Dwaine Ray, Sr. (Nina); grandchildren,
Stephanie Vetrano, Dwaine Ray, Jr. (Stephanie), Steve Ray, Justin
Ainsworth, and Memrie Litton (Jamey) ; great grandchildren, Laura
Gillum,Dalton Cumming, Katherine Vetrano, Morgan McNeer, Austin Ray, Kaylee Ray,
Charlotte Ainsworth, and Laney Litton; brother, Leroy Ditto of
California and Robert Earl Ditto of Nevada;  two special nieces, Wanda
Jean Ray of Cleveland and Ann Ellis of Tupelo; and special great
niece, Teresa Pongetti.Two great, great, grandchildren, Hudson Reed McNeer and Landon Cummings
