Mr. Noah Charles Christmas, 80, of Shelby, MS, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012, at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at First Belleview Baptist Church in Shelby, MS, with Bro. Jimmy Breland and Bro. David Koons officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Shelby City Cemetery.
Mr. Christmas was born in Campbellton, FL on May 23, 1932, to Chalmus Hudson Christmas and Lavada Lairamore Christmas. On December 22, 1950, he married Miriam White in Dothan, AL. He proudly served our country in the United States Army by fighting in the Korean War and returned to Dothan, AL where he earned his pilot license in 1953. He moved to the Mississippi Delta in 1958 and flew for Curtis Pitts and the infamous Booga-Bottom. In 1961 he began Christmas Flying Service. Mr. Christmas over the years was a strong supporter of the State and National Aerial Applicator Associations and served as past president of the MAAA in 1976 and 1985. He was a past Mississippi director of NAAA, a long time member of Donaldson Point Hunting Club, an avid Crappie fisherman, a member of First Belleview Baptist Church, and he greatly enjoyed woodworking. He was also a member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge. Upon the closing of the Shelby Masonic Lodge, it merged with Cleveland Masonic Lodge and he just recently received his fifty year pin for his many years of dedication.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chalmus and Lavada Christmas and his wife of 46 years, Miriam White Christmas.
Mr. Christmas is survived by his two sons, Charles Michael Christmas (Debbie) and Kenneth Ray Christmas (Debbie) both of Shelby, MS; grandchildren, Tyler Christmas (Maggie), Hunter Christmas (Ashley), and Shea Christmas (Mandy) all of Merigold, MS, and Austin Kuhn (Billy) of Canton, MS; great-grandchildren, Nora Claire Christmas, Adam Christmas, Jake Christmas, Miriam Ellis Kuhn, Walker Kuhn, and Haley Kuhn; and brother, Edward Earl Christmas of Labelle, FL.
Pallbearers will be Jim Myer, Charles Morgan, Troy Thompson, Richard Kimmel, Mooney Easley, and Stan Ferguson.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Baptist Children's Village P.O. Box 27 Clinton, MS 39060-027 and/or First Belleview Baptist Church in Shelby.
