Mrs. Opal Thompson Sappington went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2020. There will be a Graveside Service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in North Cleveland Cemetery with Reverend Tim McCarter officiating.
Opal was born May 17, 1926 to Kelsey and Monella Thompson in Killen, AL. She was married to Adrian "Cotton" Sappington for over fifty years. Opal had a green thumb and was passionate about gardening. Opal was extraordinarily strong in her faith and was a member of the Cleveland Church of Christ for over fifty years. She was a giving person who always went out of her way to help others and loved everyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kelsey and Monella Thompson; husband, Adrian "Cotton" Sappington; son, Donald Sappington; brothers, Buddy Thompson, Howard Thompson, and C.W. Thompson; sisters, Ethel Lester, Naisy Brunetti, and Frances Wisner. Opal is survived by her son, Charles Larry Sappington (Marjorie); brother, Robert Thompson, sisters, Shirley Wisner (Ray), Betty Larner (Bill) and Nell White; along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
