Paul Elton Bobitt, of Cleveland, MS passed away August 21, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Bishop Rd. in Cleveland. Visitation will be 10:00 and the worship service at 11:00 followed by interment in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Bobitt was born April 27, 1941 in Columbus, MS. His parents were David Pascal Bobitt and Mary Nell Homan Bobitt. He graduated from S.D. Lee High School in Columbus and attended East MS Jr. College on a football scholarship. After College, he joined the Army Reserve, and worked at Beneke Corporation as a junior project engineer, at Burns Aircraft Company in design and drafting, and at Dowdle Gas in Columbus before moving in 1986 to Cleveland to work in sales then as general manager of Quality Steel Corporation. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Golf, Fishing, and hunting were activities that he enjoyed throughout his life. He always claimed that he did more business on the golf course than in the office.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Ellen McCann Bobitt; daughters, Shelley Tufts (Joe) and Casey Malone; five grandchildren; sister, Gayla Freeman (Henry); and brother, Neon Bobitt (Renee).
Pallbearers will be Lynn Hardin, J.J. Frieson, Reginald Chatman, Bent Rogers, Clark Love, George Nassar, Robert Montesi, and Lance Dalton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Tims, Nutie Dowdle, John Aguzzi, Louis Radicioni, Mark Koonce, Bobby Tims, Virgil Mullins, Dan Day, Terry Martin, and George Barefoot.
