Pauline Bibb

Frances Pauline Chambers Bibb, 92, of Drew, surrounded by her loved ones, died peacefully in her room at the Bolivar Medical Long Term Care Center in Cleveland on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at West Drew Baptist Church in Drew, MS. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at West Drew with Rev. Artie Nute and Rev. Rick Milan officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Drew Cemetery with Rev. Tim Starnes officiating. Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland will be in charge of the arrangements.
Born August 20, 1922 to Jim and Mable Chambers, she grew up and attended school in Drew. She married the love of her life, Marvin D. Bibb from Drew in 1941 . Early in their marriage, her husband was ordained as a Baptist minister, and "Miss Polly," as she was affectionately known by church members and friends, devoted her life to supporting his ministry. Often referred to as the model pastor's wife, Miss Polly demonstrated Christ's love through her laughter, compassion, concern and warmth. She shared her love for missions with numerous WMU and children's groups in their pastorates and at the state level. She was a gifted Bible teacher, prayer group leader, counselor and devotional writer, with publications in Open Windows Devotionals. Countless individuals, young and old, were influenced by Miss Polly's genuine love of God. In addition to being a preacher's wife, she was an elementary teacher in several Louisiana and Mississippi school districts. Living her last fourteen years with Alzheimer's was not anything like anyone thought her life's story would be. However, even during this time, she continued to model and share love and joy to her family, caretakers and friends. Her legacy of love and concern for one another will live on for generations.
Miss Polly is survived by her daughter, Cathy Bibb Dickerson (Donnie) of Cleveland, daughter- in-law, Naomi Jenkins Bibb of Indianola; brother, Harold Loyd Chambers (Betty Jean) of Benoit; sister, Phyllis Chambers Williams Robinson ( Tommy) of Laurel; four grandchildren, Olivia Bibb Thomas (Howard) of Vicksburg, Jenny Bibb of Starkville, Brad Dickerson (Bridget) of Metairie, LA, and Meredith Dickerson Duncan (Michael) of Madison; and six great grandchildren, Savannah, Eli and Zane Thomas of Vicksburg, Barrett Duncan of Madison and Cate and Warren Dickerson of Metairie, LA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Marvin D. Bibb; her son, Ronnie Bibb; her parents, Jim and Mable Chambers; and her brother, Ellioutte Chambers.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. David Walt for his compassionate counsel over these years, the staff of Indywood in Indianola, and the staff at Bolivar Medical Long Term Care Center in Cleveland for the outstanding loving care they shared with Miss Polly.
