Pauline Collier McClure, age 86, passed away peacefully at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, Mississippi, on Friday, June 1, 2012. Celebration of Life Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, Mississippi. Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home. Interment will be at the New Cleveland Cemetery.
Pauline was born September 4, 1925, in Schlater, MS. She lived in Shaw, Mississippi (Interstate Community) her entire life before moving to The Waterford Independent Living Facility in Ridgeland, Mississippi in 2010. She lived last at the Liberty Health and Rehabilitation Center in Indianola, Mississippi. She attended and worked at Mississippi Delta Community College in the media center until retiring in 1995.
Pauline was a lifelong member of the Interstate Baptist Church. As a church member, she served in many capacities - Sunday school teacher, Bible school leader, church librarian, choir and a longtime volunteer on various committees.
Survivors include her children: Bonnie (Dwight) Spencer of Indianola, Mississippi and Valdosta, Georgia, James (Rene') McClure of Shaw, MS and Jo Ann (John) Walton of Indianola, Mississippi and Ridgeland, Mississippi.
Surviving grandchildren include Carla Sue Spencer and Karen (Solomon) Summerlin, of Valdosta, Georgia, James Brian McClure of Minden, Louisiana, Thomas Brent (Erica) McClure of Savannah, Tennessee, Jason Lewis (Laurie) Walton of West Palm Beach, Florida and Jo Collier (Cali) Walton of Indianola, Mississippi and Ridgeland, Mississippi.
Surviving great grandchildren include Lucas Garst Kelly, Jacob Spencer Kelly and John Mark Kelly of Valdosta. Georgia, Isabella and Solomon Summerlin of Valdosta, Georgia, William Thomas McClure of Savannah, Tennessee, Caroline Rose Walton and John William Walton II of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Other surviving relatives include one brother, Charles Edwin (Helen) Pittman of Lampe, Missouri, one brother in-law Douglas (Nettie Helen) McClure of Shaw, Mississippi. She also leaves two sisters-in-laws Carol Brame of Bartlett, Tennessee and Harriet Pittman of Mobile, Alabama. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pauline was preceded in death by: her husband, J. C. McClure and her parents: Benford and Luvenia Collier Pittman, sisters: Mary Collier Ford of West Monroe, Louisiana, Jimmie Collier Sanford of Houston, Texas and Iva Jean Pittman Litton of Greensboro, Alabama and brothers: Doyle Lee Collier of Florence, Mississippi and Colin Pittman of Memphis, Tennessee.
