Mrs. Peggy Janell Rutledge, 74, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at her home. Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Beckwith and Rev. Chris White officiating. Interment will be in Greencrest Cemetery in Belzoni.
Mrs. Rutledge was born in Philladelphia, MS, on June 11, 1942, to Willie Howell and Eva Ward Howell. On March 3, 1961, she married James Edward Rutledge in Anguilla, MS. She was a member of Gooden Lake Baptist Church in Belzoni, and worked for eight years as church secretary at First Church of Nazarene in Cleveland. She loved to fish, watch old movies, shop for shoes, and spend time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Howell and Eva Ward Howell; her husband, James Edward Rutledge; and sister, Jane Howell. Mrs. Rutledge is survived by her son, James E. Rutledge, Jr. of Cleveland; grandson, Ryan A. Rutledge of Cleveland; granddaughter, Grace H. Rutledge of Cleveland; sisters, Ann Howell Crews (Bill Hampton) of Atlanta, GA; Pat Howell Gray (Tommy) of Kosciusko, and Joyce Gearinger of Atlanta, GA; niece, Mona Ayers (Tommy) of Atlanta, GA; and nephews, Sandy Crews (Imelda) of Atlanta, GA, and Chris Gray (Shey) of Kosciusko. Pallbearers will be Zach Moss, Clark Jarrett, Mike Moss, Michael James, Clark Manning, and Homer Martin.
