Phyllis Smith Gordon

Mrs. Phyllis York Smith Gordon, 92, of Cleveland went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 29, 2021. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS with a Celebration of Life following at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Shelby Cemetery. Family request only family and close friends attend. Phyllis was born December 6, 1928 to Harvey and Bertha York Sr. in Drew, MS. She lived most of her childhood in Gunnison and graduated from Gunnison High School in 1948. Phyllis married Richard Lamar "Buddy" Smith on November 20, 1948 in Clarksdale, MS. They were married 32 years. She married Homer G Gordon on October 5, 1981 in Beulah, MS. She had two wonderful marriages. Phyllis was a member of Interstate Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, being a housewife, but most of all playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, Harvey & Bertha York; husbands, Richard Lamar "Buddy" Smith and Homer G Gordon; brothers, Tommy York, Harvey York Jr., and Billy York; sister, Omagee Farrell.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Richard Smith (Alma) of Greenville, MS; daughters, Diane Furtick and Betty Britt (Latham) of Cleveland, MS; grandchildren, Hannah Estes Aguzzi (Michael) of Cleveland, MS, Carey Estes (Holly) of Cleveland, MS, Lindsay R Birch (Jordan) of Drummonds, TN, Cody Smith (Rachael) of Washington, D.C., Matthew Britt (Kamaran) and Joseph Britt of Cleveland, MS; brother, Carl York (Patricia) of Gunnison, MS; great grandchildren, Colby Allen Dreher and Carey David Estes. Family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude.
