Polly Evelyn Hawkins

Mrs. Polly Evelyn Hawkins, 87 of Merigold, MS went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 10, 2022.  Visitation will be10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Saturday, August 13, 2022, Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS.  Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at New Cleveland Cemetery.

Polly was born July 25, 1935, to Roy and Birtie Wilcutt in Denver, CO.  She married James Roy Hawkins August 11, 1953, in Flint, MI.  They were going to be celebrating their 69-wedding anniversary the day before she went to be with the Lord.  Polly loved walking, sewing, and reading.  She had one of the most beautiful yards in Merigold.  Polly was a member of the Merigold Baptist Church.  She served on the hospitality committee at Calvary Baptist Church for 30 years.

She is predeceased by her parents, Roy and Birtie Wilcutt; brothers, Bob and Steve Wilcutt.

Polly is survived by her loving husband, James Roy Hawkins; son, James “Spunky” Hawkins; daughter, Angela Hawkins Kent (Billy Ray); grandchildren, Roianna Hawkins Correro (Joe), Zayne Hawkins, Jamie Mangum, Houston Hawkins; 4 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Wilcutt; very special niece, Norma Jean Wilcutt; and special friends, Joyce Seaberry and Randolph Haywood. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
