Ralph Conger

Mr. Ralph Donald Conger, Sr. 78, of Rosedale, MS, passed away at his home Monday, January 10, 2011. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Pace United Methodist Church in Pace, MS with Rev. Billy Owen officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00- 2:00 p.m. at the Pace Methodist Church. Burial will follow funeral in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Conger was born in Deeson, MS to Ben Clower Conger and Maybelle Hoge on April 8, 1932. He graduated from Rosedale High school, where in 1950 he was on the state champion debate team. He graduated from Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, member of Alpha Zeta and Phi Eta Sigma, both honor fraternities. Mr. Conger graduated from Delta State University with the first Master's in science education awarded by DSU. Later, he received a Masters in Administration. Mr. Conger served in the Korean War as a dental technician aboard the USS Everglades out of Bainbridge, MD. He served as Headmaster of North Sunflower Academy for 17 years and was also the Director of The Adult Basic Education Unit at Parchman. Mr. Conger loved playing golf, MSU, playing cards and loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Conger of Rosedale, MS; sons, Ralph D. Conger, Jr. and John Clower Conger (Linda) both of Rosedale, MS; granddaughter, Ashley Conger; great-granddaughter, Alexis Grace Conger both of Cleveland, MS; sister, Lucille Conger Vesely of Mobile, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles Danna, Dr. Charles Brock, Chris Braswell, Ted Alford, Gregory Cole, Robert "Bob" Wilbanks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Bizell, Allen Thornton, John Pearson, Joe Barnes, Roy Clark, and Ralph Williamson.
