Rodger Wooten

Rodger Allen Wooten, 53, of Crossville, TN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. A private, family visitation will begin at 11:00 am at Ruleville Baptist Church, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, followed by a public visitation from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm. Rodger's funeral service at Ruleville Baptist Church will begin at 1:00 pm, and a graveside service will follow at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, MS. Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS, is in charge of the funeral service.

Rodger was born in Ruleville MS, on October 15, 1970, to Pressley E. Wooten and Fannie Young Wooten. As a young man, he attended school in Ruleville and Jackson, MS. He graduated from North Sunflower Academy in 1988. Rodger attended Delta State University and Mississippi State University. In 1995, Rodger and Teresa Ann Clark of Moorhead, MS, were married. From this marriage a son was born, Spencer Clark Wooten. If you were lucky enough to know Rodger, you know how much he loved being a father to Spencer.

During his life, Rodger enjoyed working in various fields. He was self-employed as a licensed building contractor and owned a lawn mowing service. For a short while he worked for the TN corrections system. Recently he had returned to delivering recreational vehicles across the united states. He loved traveling and the freedom delivering RVs allowed him. Rodger valued his family and friends most in life. He enjoyed hunting, camping, being outdoors and watching TV. Rodger was an excellent chef and loved cooking meals for others. For those who know the "dirt hole" story, we will forever love and miss Rodger's unique and one of a kind, sense of humor.

Rodger is preceded in death by his parents, Pressley E. Wooten and Fannie Young Wooten; his grandparents James A. and Ethelyn Wooten and Thomas S. and Sammie Young.

He is survived by his son, Spencer Clark Wooten (Faith) of Crossville, TN; granddaughter, Willow Grace Wooten; unborn grandson, Bennett Clark Wooten; sister, Jenny Young of Boise, ID; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
