Mr. Roger Dale Walker, 69, of Boyle, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be at 1:00, Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Hill and Bro. Artie Newt officiating. Interment will follow in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Walker was born June 13, 1944, in Cleveland, MS to Marvin Gaston Walker and Ardayre Davis Walker. On June 13, 1965, he married Billie Jean Medders in Cleveland; she was the love of his life and very best friend. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on June 13, 2014, his birthday. He was member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Roger was a retired farmer, but he was still very active helping his son, Rodney, take over the family farm. He enjoyed helping him with the harvest each year and continuing to be a part of the farming tradition in the family. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He carried his love of hunting down to his son and daughter as well as his grandson, Ridge, teaching them everything he knew. Turkey hunting had become his favorite past time during this time of year. He had a true love for his family and friends. Roger met everyone with a smile on his face, he loved people and he always thought of others before himself.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Marvin Gaston and Ardayre Walker; and his beloved in-laws, Hugh and Grace Medders.
Mr. Walker is survived by his son, Rodney Walker of Linn; daughter, Kimberly Bolin (Jimmy) of Boyle; granddaughters, Lauren Tollison (Zac) of Ruleville and Mikaela Mengarelli of Boyle; grandson, Ridge Fullilove of Boyle; and soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Piper Tollison. He had several siblings, Marvin Walker (Kay) of Cleveland, David Walker ( Gloria) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Robert Walker (Peggy) of Linn, Timmy Walker(Judy) of Webb, Billy Walker (Sandra) of Sunnyside, Joy Touchstone (Ray) of Meadville, and Diane Hodges (Jerry) of Dallas, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Nobile, Will Nobile, Jimmy Haney, George Evans, Bern Prewitt, Sr., Bern Prewitt, Jr., Lexi Horne, and Mike McCain. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Yeager, James Allen Herbison, Ernie Able, Randy Howarth, Jesse Palacious, Jimmy Poe, John Harrell, and James Walker.
