Ronald G. "Ron" Mills,82, died on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in Greenville, MS). Ron was born near Marshall, Texas, the second son of H. Garland and Hazel R. Mills. The Mills family moved from Texas to Shaw, Mississippi in 1953. The family farmed near Benoit, MS.

Ron graduated from Shaw High School in 1958 and was awarded a four-year basketball scholarship to Christian Brothers College in Memphis, TN, graduating in 1963. After working briefly for an accounting firm in Memphis, he entered the Air Force Officer Training School at Lackland AFB, TX, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in February 1964. After completing his first assignment at Norton AF, CA, he was transferred to Michigan State University, where he earned an MBA degree in 1967.

Having completed his overseas tour in England, Ron resigned from the Air Force in 1971.

Ron began his career with the Internal Revenue Service in Mississippi and later worked in Georgia, Washington, D.C., and Arizona. While working, he earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Atlanta Law School in 1980. He retired from the IRS in 1996 and returned to MS. Mr. Mills worked part time for H & R Block in Cleveland. Ron retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1992 with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Alan Mills and two brothers, Gary Mills and Kevin Mills.

He is survived by his daughter Carolyn (Brad) Ingram, of Roswell, GA, his daughter-in-law, Elisabeth G. Mills, his grandson, Grayson Mills, his granddaughter, Lyla Ingram, two brothers, Richard (Sylvia) Mills of

Madison, MS, and Timothy (Melanie) Mills of Charleston, IL, and two sisters, Regina (Frank) Pavlov of Biloxi, MS and Ramona (Phillip) Adams of Rosedale, MS.

Ron was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shaw. His professional memberships included the State Bar of Georgia, The Military Officers Association of America, The Reserve Officers Association, the American Legion and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.

Ron's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Mary Paul McDowell for the special relationship she shared with Ron.

Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS, will carry out Mr. Mills' request that his remains be cremated.

Interment in a Military Cemetery will be at a later date.
