Roscoe Lee "Phid" Hooper, 89, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, July 9th, 2016 at North Sunflower Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July, 14, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Kirkpatrick officiating.
Phid was born, December 30th, 1926, in Merigold, MS to R.L. Hooper and Gladys Medders Hooper. He attended Merigold High School. He also served two years in the Army Air Corp. He was married to Judy Hooper in Leland at Turner's Hardware Store on September 5, 1948. They were happily married for 62 years. Phid worked as a service man and manager for 41+ years at Mississippi Power and Light Company. He enjoyed golf, hunting, and time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father; wife, Judy; sisters, Frances and Rachel; and brothers, Walter Brooks and Dick.
He is survived by sons, Fred L. "Butch" Hooper of Colorado and Eulie Frank Hooper of Cleveland; brother, Howard "Locey" Hooper; six grandchildren, Abby Morris, Monica Wright, Scott Alley, Jennifer Sachs, Heather Sloan, and Elizabeth Starr; seven great grandchildren, Emily, Audrey, Wyatt, Elliott, Jake, Alex, and Grant; and many, many friends who loved him.
