Rowena Donaldson Dean

Rowena Donaldson Dean 86, of Shaw, MS was called home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2024 . A visitation honoring Rowena will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 from 10:00-10:45 AM at Ray Funeral Home with a graveside service following at 11:00 AM in the North Cleveland Cemetery.

Rowena Donaldson Dean was born on May 21, 1938, in Idaho Falls, ID to the late Addison Herbert Donaldson & Hazel Hammon Donaldson Atwood. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and went on to marry Felix Dean on October 16, 1965. Rowena was a beloved teacher & counselor where she dedicated her life to shaping young minds and inspiring others. Most of all Rowena’s greatest life goal was watching and raising her children along with watching her grandchildren & great grandchildren grow up.

Rowena was preceded in passing by her parents, Addison Herbert Donaldson & Hazel Atwood, two sons, Delbert Clay Dean & Jeffrey Mason Dean, two brothers, David Donaldson & Frank Donaldson.

 She is survived by her loving husband Felix Dean Jr of Shaw, MS, children, David(Pat) Dean of Alabama, Dennis(Cody)Dean of Hernando, MS, Dianne(Joe) Athey of Indianola, MS., JD Dean of Louisiana, Scott Dean(Boba) of Boyle, MS., Larry Dean(Sherry) of Hattiesburg, MS, Rodger(Mellissa) Dean of Arkansas, Cheryl Dean of Boyle, MS., siblings, Herbie(Barbara)Donaldson, Howard(Sally) Donaldson, and Cynthia Donaldson, and a host of loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Although Rowena may no longer be with us in person, her spirit and impact will live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, knowing she made the world a better place for having been a part of it.
