Roy Lee Wiley, 103, passed away at Delta Regional in Greenville, MS. Funeral services will be Monday, October 18, 2010 at 2:00 at First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS with Dr. Sid Harmon officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. Burial will follow in the New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Wiley was born in Forney, TX on June 17, 1907 to William Wiley and Lou Crum. He married Clara Bell Hill in Mount City, MO on June 7, 1936. Mr. Wiley was an active member of Cleveland Noon Lions Club, past President of Lions Club and Lion of the Year 2002-2003. He was also a member of Shriners for 70 years. Mr. Wiley was a Physics teacher at Delta State University for 33 years. The Planetarium at Delta State is named the Roy and Clara Belle Wiley Planetarium . He was an avid gardenar and lifetime supporter of Delta State Sports.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Wiley and Lou Crum; wife, Clara Bell Hill; and son, William Jackson Wiley.
Mr. Wiley is survived by daughters, Jean Lynch (Bud), and Julie Mosow of Greenville, MS; grandchildren, Melissa Lynch Spinner (Mark) of Atlanta, GA, John Wiley Lynch of Atlanta, GA, Emily Jean Mosow of Greenville, MS, and Matthew Jackso Mosow of Greenville, MS; great-grandchildren, Wiley James Spinner of Atlanta, GA, Jackson Hill Spinner of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Martin Spinner of Atlanta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Roy Wiley Memorial Science Fund, Delta State University, or to the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS.
