Ruth Terrell Brumfield, 89, a resident of Cleveland and a former resident of McComb, died January 3, 2012 at Bovilar Medical Center Long Term Care facility in Cleveland, MS. She was born June 19, 1922 in Progress, MS. the daughter of the late William Newton Terrell, Sr. and Thelma Day Terrell.
She was very active in the East McComb Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher, member of the choir and various other church organizations. When East McComb Baptist Church relocated to Summit, MS under the name of New Heights Baptist Church, Mrs. Brumfield continued her worship with her church family at New Heights.
Mrs. Brumfield was preceded in death by her first husband, D. C. Brumfield; her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bill Dillon; her second husband, Michael Broker; a brother, William Terrell; and a sister, Inez Starrett Barlow.
She is survived by her son, Don Brumfield and his wife Aulene of Cleveland, MS; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Mary Terrell of Orlando, FL and a sister, Edith Johnston of Laurel; sister-in-law, Betty Moak Terrell of Baton Rouge LA; five grandchildren, Joy Dillon McKelvin of East Camden, AR; Amy Dillon Anderson of Gulfport; Dedra Dillon Lincoln of Orlando,FL; Deborah Brumfield Bell of Brandon; and Craig Brumfield of Maylene, AL; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6th from 5 till 8 PM and will continue on Saturday from 9 AM till service time at 10 AM from Hartman-Sharkey Chapel.
Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery with Rev. Rick Kennedy officating.
