It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sherry Jones, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Sherry peacefully left this world on December 11, 2023, in Cleveland, MS, where she had resided and touched the lives of many throughout her remarkable journey.
A Private Memorial service to honor and celebrate Sherry's life will be held at a later date in Panola County.
Sherry was Born on September 27, 1938, to the late Jeff & Christine Sanders. Sherry was raised in Oakland, Mississippi, and it was there that she developed her strong work ethic and unyielding commitment to her loved ones. After graduating from Batesville High School, Sherry pursued her passion for business education at the prestigious MS College for Women, graduating with a bachelor's degree in December 1959. In 1960 Sherry began her secretarial career in Clarksdale. Shortly thereafter, fate intervened, and Sherry crossed paths with Paul Jones, the love of her life. In 1962, they united in holy matrimony, embarking on a lifelong journey together filled with love, joy, and shared experiences. Moving to Cleveland in 1964, Sherry and Paul established their home and built a family that became the center of her universe. Sherry's dedication and exemplary work ethic led her to become a legal secretary and court reporter. Known for her unwavering commitment to her profession, Sherry dedicated herself to her job serving the justice system with integrity and grace. Her dedication to her work was recognized by all who had the privilege of working with her, and she retired in 1996 after a successful career as a county court reporter. Although accomplished in her career, Sherry's true fulfillment came from her role as a loving mother and grandmother. Her daughters and grandchildren were her greatest treasures, and she embraced her role as matriarch with unwavering love and support. Sherry's nurturing nature, compassion, and kind heart will forever be remembered by those she held dear.
Sherry's legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She leaves behind a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, her loving daughters, and her adoring grandchildren.
Sherry is preceded in passing by her beloved parents, Jeff & Christine Sanders, loving husband, Paul Jones, two brothers, and one sister.
Sherry is survived by her loving daughters, Amy(David) Taylor of Sardis, MS., Kathy (Kenny) Garrett of Sunflower, MS., four grandchildren, Mitch(Mallory) Taylor of Memphis, TN., Maggie Taylor of Sardis, MS., Wade Garrett of Ripley, MS., Andrew (Heather) Garrett of Cleveland, MS., 6 great grandchildren, Asher, Quinn, Silas, Isobel, Beau, and Mary James.
May Sherry's soul find eternal peace and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration for all who mourn her loss.
