Mrs. Thelma Tounzen Crowe, 96, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, at Walter B. Crooke Nursing Home. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. Graveside Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 11:15 a.m. at Delta Heights Memorial Garden Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Speegle officiating.
Mrs. Crowe was born in Osawatomie, KS, on December 11, 1921, to Albert Oscar Tounzen and Hazel Belle Miller Tounzen. On November 22, 1945, she married Harl Custer Crowe in Greenville, MS. She proudly served her country as a WAC in the United States Army during WWII, and upon her return she continued her passion for Nursing by working at Bolivar Medical Center for twenty years. She loved sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Oscar Tounzen and Hazel Belle Tounzen; husband, Harl Custer Crowe; and siblings, Maxine Boyd, Euthon Tounzen, Albert Tounzen, and Donna Ferguson.
Mrs. Crowe is survived by her daughter, Terri Norton (Chet) of Cleveland; son, Randy Crowe (Cathy) of Florida; brothers, Buddy Tounzen (Kim) of Georgia and Morris Tounzen (Rachael) of Arkansas; grandchildren, Brandie Norton Garber (John) of Lafayette, LA, Allen Norton (Valerie) of Corinth, MS, Tessa Crowe Thigpen of North Carolina, and Ryan Crowe (Ashley) of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Brett Garber, Jace Garber, Jane Norton, Mikayla Ashlee Sherwood, Evelyn Fay Crowe, and Harl Cullum Crowe.
