Theodore O'Bryant "Ted" Solomon, Jr., 77, passed away June 13, 2021 in Cleveland, MS. Visitation will be held at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS, on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Ray Funeral Home on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Joseph Dean of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints officiating. Burial will follow at North Cleveland Cemetery. Ray Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ted was born in Cleveland, MS to the late Theodore O'Bryant and Ruby Powell Solomon November 23, 1943. Ted was a retired Delta State University Speech and Drama professor, where he taught for nearly forty years, and retired box office manager for the Bologna Performing Arts Center. Ted received his Doctor of Philosophy in Speech Communication from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Master of Arts Degree from the University of Mississippi, and Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Delta State College. He was an avid sports fan and loved theatre. He directed many plays at Delta State and inspired his students to work on their goals. He enjoyed working on his class reunions for Cleveland High School. Ted is survived by his wife, Portia, of Cleveland; sister Peggy (Vince) Ruane, of Batesville, AR; step-son Jason (Karen) Mullen, of Southaven, MS; step-daughter Jenny (Dave) Williams, of Vardaman; and grandsons Cameron (Jody) Denney of Columbus, MS, Zack Coleman, of Kilmichael, MS, and granddaughter Jenna Coleman of Vardaman, MS. Pallbearers are Jason Mullen, Cameron Denney, Jody Denney, Zack Coleman, Dave Williams, and Jack Jones.
