Retired Police Captain Thomas Daniel "Danny" Oswalt, 55, of Cleveland, MS, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Ray Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Celebration of life service will be Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Oswalt was born August 8, 1956 to John Daniel Oswalt and Mary Louise Steadman in Cleveland, MS. He married Lisa Julius in Lake Village, AR on July 26, 2002. Mr. Oswalt was an avid fisherman and poker player. He was also was an expert marksman. He was a dedicated Ole Miss supporter and football fan. Mr. Oswalt was a committed NASCAR fan and collector of baseball cards. He dearly loved his two dogs Nikki and Hershey. Danny dedicated 25 years of service to the Cleveland Police Department. In addition he spent many years traveling over the Southern US taking photos for Olan Mills. He was also a former motorcycle mechanic and he even drove a milk truck.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Oswalt of Cleveland, MS; stepson, Dean Julius of Cleveland, MS; stepdaughter, Lauribeth Foster of Cleveland, MS; sister, Beverly Elmore (Gary); mother, Louise Steadman Oswalt; father, John Oswalt (Frankie); and grandmother, Lorene Steadman.
Pallbearers will be Randy Townsend, Gill Denley, Buster Bingham, George Evans, Sr., Stanley Perry, Michael Simmons, Mark Hall and Johnny Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Cleveland Police Department.
