Timothy Valentine Foley, Jr., 74, of Cleveland, MS, passed away, Wednesday, April, 16, 2014, at his home. A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at New Cleveland Cemetery with Bro. Barry Dickerson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Ray Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Tim was born August 6, 1939, to Ollean Hatchett Foley and Timothy Valentine Foley in Clarksdale, MS. He married Virginia Carpenter on March 11, 1972, in Cleveland, MS. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in March 2014.
He was a graduate of Mississippi Southern College where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, ROTC, and the Rifle Club. He made life-long friends with many of his fraternity brothers and always enjoyed attending USM Homecoming and "Spring Fling" at Orange Beach, AL with his brothers.
He was commissioned as the 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army upon graduation from college and was honorably discharged as a Captain. He served as Company Commander of the Army Reserve Unit in Clarksdale for several years. Tim was a member of the American Legion Post 165 in Cleveland, MS.
Tim worked in the heating and air-conditioning business and retired from Beverly Health Care, Cleveland in 2001, where he served as maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique marine engines and could build and repair anything.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Timothy Valentine and Ollean Hatchett Foley; his brother, Charles Patrick Foley; and his nephew, Timothy Patrick Foley.
Tim is survived by his wife, Virginia Carpenter Foley of Cleveland; sisters, Nancy Foley of Clarksdale, MS and Mary Elizabeth Simpson, (Tom) of New York, NY; brother-in-law, Edwin Carpenter, Jr. (Kay) of Mandeville, LA; and his niece, Meredith Carpenter of Austin, TX.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charlie Brock and his staff at Cleveland Medical Clinic and Dr. Patrick Sewell, Debbie Jennings and the Radiology staff at BMC. A special thank you goes to Jeanette with Grace Hospice for her compassionate care during his final days.
