Toby Barnett Mitchell

Mrs. Toby Barnett Mitchell, 79, of Merigold, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Huber officiating. Interment will be in Merigold Cemetery. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Cleveland, MS, on September 12, 1936, to Kenneth V. Barnett and Dorothy Taylor Barnett. On August 21, 1955, she married Clifford M. "Buddy" Mitchell, Sr. in Cleveland. She worked for 58 years as a Bank Manager with Cleveland State Bank, and was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Mitchell loved to sing so much that she was known for singing in the choir, performing solos, and even singing at Riggs Manor in Raymond. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth V. Barnett and Dorothy Taylor Barnett; and her husband, Clifford M. "Buddy" Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her children, Cindy Mitchell Davis (Mike) of Hazlehurst, MS, Clifford M. Mitchell, Jr. (Fran) of Ridgeland, MS, Jackie Mitchell Loup (Kenny) of Denham Springs, LA, and Jeremy F. Mitchell (JoAnna) of Brandon, MS; siblings, Faye Cowart of Vicksburg, Don Barnett (Liz) of Homboldt, TN, Ron Barnett of Cleveland, Mary Ellen White of Shreveport, LA, K. Suzanne Barnett of Lak Ron Kon Koma, NY; eight grandchildren, Jack Mitchell Davis (Alex), Mary Michael Makamson (Jason), Lauren Mitchell Sansing (David), Shane Anthony Mitchell, Austin Nicholas Loup, Emily Janelle Loup, Erin Kay Loup, and Jordyn Marie Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Webb Robert Sansing, Julianne Frances Sansing, Sarah Hardin Makamson, and William Bailey Makamson; and her beloved K9 companion, Bo. Pallbearers will be Jack Davis, Shane Mitchell, Austin Loup, Jason Makamson, Rodney Howell, and David Gladden.
