Vester Gilbert Redd, 90, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013, at North Sunflower Medical Center. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, in Delta Heights Memorial Gardens with Bro. Robert Haney officiating.
Mr. Redd was born June 9, 1923, to Joe Vergil Redd and Mable Clara Kellum Redd. On March 17, 1942, in Boyle, MS, he married Ethel Johnson. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army and he worked for 25 years in the automotive business selling parts. He loved people, helping children, doing the Lord's work, and playing bass guitar. A major joy in his life was singing with The Boundless Love Singers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Vergil Redd and Mable Clara Redd; his spouse, Ethel Johnson Redd; and his siblings.
Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Redd of Cleveland, and Bonnie Redd of Memphis, TN.
Memorials may be made to the Habitat for Humanity.
