Mrs. Vira Frazier Sims, 89, formerly of Cleveland, currently of Madison where she lived with her son, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home. Graveside services will immediately follow beginning at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016, at New Cleveland Cemetery with Rev. Larry Braswell officiating.
She was born on December 19, 1926, to Walter and Mary Frazier. She was the youngest of six. She attended school in Skene. She loved flowers, gardening, cross stitching, and crocheting. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and she truly loved her Sunday School Class. She had many friends and was a friend to many. She married Coleman Sims on August 16, 1942, and they had four children: Charlotte, Lewis, Wanda and Jim. Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Lewis Coleman Sims; parents, Walter and Mary Frazier; three brothers, Marshall Frazier, Boyd Frazier, and Richard Frazier; and two sisters, Viola Frazier Vineyard and Louise Frazier Herbison. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Griffin (Charles) of Boyle, Lewis Sims of Madison, Wanda Williamson of Winston Salem, NC, and Jim Sims (Becky) of Madison; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her Irish Setter companion, Abby. Pallbearers will be Bryan Cole, Keith Cole, Lyn Cole, Hayden Cole, James Roy Hawkins, and Mickey Robinson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
