Virginia Earl Hudson Melton, 73, of Benoit, MS passed away at 6:30 a.m. , Sunday, May 3, 2020 after a long battle with a terminal illness and diabetes.
She was born on July 23, 1946 at Renova, MS to Thomas Paul Hudson and Eddie Arlene McGovern Hudson. She graduated from Benoit High School in 1964. Virginia was a receptionist for Bostick Bros. Oil Co. in Benoit for 11 years. She was also president of M&M Millwright for 33 years. She was a member of the Board for the town of Benoit for 20 years. When not at work Virginia's heart and soul were devoted to her family. Her grandchildren especially lit up her life. Her family, friends and coworkers knew she had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Virginia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carl Edward Melton, Sr., her son Carl Melton, Jr and wife Shawna Melton of Indianola, MS; her sister, Mary Chenault of Beulah, MS; her grandchildren, Hailey Melton of Boston, MA, Peyton Melton of Greenville, MS, Sydney Landrum and Shelby Landrum of Indianola, MS; several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Paul Hudson, Jr. and Peggy Sue Hudson Roberts. Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Beulah Cemetery in Beulah, MS.
