Vivian Maurice Hendon Towles, 92, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at her home in Sunflower, MS. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Sunflower Baptist Church in Sunflower, MS. Burial will follow in Indianola Cemetery under the direction of Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, at the church.
Maurice was born on March 23, 1918, in Choctaw County to John J. Hendon and Ada Ellis Hendon. She married Lake Hayes Towles in Isola, MS, on May 15, 1937. She and Lake made their home together in Sunflower County for over 62 years, where she was a homemaker and he farmed until his retirement.
She is preceded in death by her husband, on October 18, 2003; her parents, 3 brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include three daughters, Faye Gentry and her husband, Jerry, Ruth Stroud and her husband, Tom, Darleen Chandler and her husband, Lester; 6 grandchildren, Mechelle Wilson and her husband Mitch, Kristi Clark and her husband, Michael, Kathi Dunnam and her husband, Joe, Stephen Stroud and his wife, Melody, Gary Chandler and his wife , Phyllis, Leslie Waggoner and her husband, Jeff; and eleven great grandchildren, Laura Ashley, Laken, and Erin Wilson, Gentry and Quincee Clark, Mary and Anna Stroud, Asa, Quinn, and Carson Chandler, and Luke Waggoner.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Wilson, Michael Clark, Joe Dunnam, Jeff Waggoner, Gary Chandler, and Stephen Stroud
