William Patterson Jones

Mr. William Patterson Jones, 88, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on January 4, 2018, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Breland officiating. Interment will be in West Cemetery in West, Mississippi with Brother Jerry Tate officiating.
William was born on September 18, 1929, to William P. Jones, Sr. and Danita Phelps Jones in New Orleans, LA. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. After the War he returned to finish his college degree upon completion, he embarked on a career path that eventually led to Cleveland and Baxter/Travenol. He was there for over 30 years and eventually worked as a consultant for Baxter for several years after retirement. He and Dot, his beloved wife, were able to travel all over the world because of his consulting job.
Bill was also an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp. He was father to three sons and several other young men looked at him as second father, coining him with the name "BigDaddy".
He is preceded in death by his wife and best friend of 19 years, Doris "Dot" Buckley Jones; his parents, William Jones, Sr. and Danita Phelps Jones; and his brother, Richard Jones.
William is survived by his sons, Pat Jones of Houston, TX, Jeff Jones of West, MS, and Tim Jones of Flora, MS; step daughter, Linda Russell of Jackson, MS; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
