William Starnes
William Dennis Starnes, 89, of Pattison, MS, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015, at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS. Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Brandywine Methodist Church. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Brandywine Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Assink officiating. Interment will follow in Shelton Cemetery.
Mr. Starnes was born on March 17, 1925, in Port Gibson, MS to Samuel Erby Starnes and Ollie Mae Thedford Starnes. On February 10, 1945, he married Mary Elsie Jones in Port Gibson. He was a member of Brandywine Methodist Church, and was a cattle farmer. He also worked for Koestler's bakery for 28 years until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Erby Starnes and Ollie Mae Starnes.
Mr. Starnes is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Elsie Jones of Cleveland, formerly of Pattison; sons, Dennis Wayne Starnes (Gaye) of McComb, William Don Starnes (Carolyn) of Pattison, Harry Ray Starnes (Rachel) of Livingston, TN, Timothy Austin Starnes (Sarah) of Cleveland, and Randy Neil Starnes (Suzanne) of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Selden of Port Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Ted Starnes, Robert Starnes, Wayne Smith, John Donald Selden, Garnett Van Norman, Terry Goza, and Delton McCurley. Honorary pallbearers will be Trent Jennings, Jamey Elkin, and Jonathan Parker.
In Memory of Mr. Starnes, donations may be made to Brandywine Methodist Church, 3108 Shelton Weeks Rd. Pattiston, MS 39144 or the charity of your choice.
