William Summers

William Staten "Sonny" Summers, 73, formerly of Cleveland, passed away February 11, 2011 at his home in Tillatoba, MS. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Bruce, Elsworth McCracken and Joel Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at North Cleveland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2011.
Mr. Sonny was born October 9, 1937 in Ruleville, MS to Lazarus Earl Summers and Mary Dell Wilson Summers. He owned and operated his own roofing company for many years. He married Ann Williams on October 8, 1983 in Cleveland, MS. He loved to fish, listen to gospel music and be the long running champion of family dominos. He was an honorable man of his word and was amazing at his job. He was very family oriented and loved his grandchildren dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Summers of Tillatoba, MS; son, James McDaniel (Pam) of Woodland, MS; daughter, Dee Stroup (Scott) of Tillatoba, MS and Liz Summers of Thibodaux, LA; 2 grandchildren, Brittany Engle and Amber Engle of Tillatoba; 5 sisters, Sally Brewer (Davis) of Merigold, Edna Porter of Drew, Margaret Mitchell of Brandon, Lilly Smith of Drew, Ellen Riddell (Paul) of Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Steven Dill, Steven Stroup, Michael Paul Riddell, Peter Walker, Will Williams, and Jimmy Utz, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Perry and Brooks Reynolds.
